On June 18, 2026, Apple officially announced changes for Brazil: starting with iOS 26.5, developers will be able to distribute iOS apps through alternative marketplaces, with AltStore PAL becoming one of the first notable examples.
Brazilian users can install it on their iPhones and choose it as the default marketplace in the app installation settings.
Does this mean ASO has a new traffic source? 🧐
Not yet, of course. But this is a real market where alternative iOS app distribution can be tested, as users there are more used to bypassing restrictions than in Europe 🙂
For ASO specialists, this is a signal to keep an eye on new stores. Things will change when exclusive apps appear on these platforms, available only in AltStore, or if at least a few major gambling brands start actively driving users to these stores for their apps.
By the way, this is not the first region where. Apple is opening up iOS to alternative marketplaces. In EU countries, such stores have already been allowed following the DMA requirements, with Epic Games Store and AltStore PAL among the examples. Later, a similar model appeared in Japan. Now Brazil has been added to this list.
