Palantir CEO Warns AI Could Predict Your Next Move Before You Make It
Palantir CEO Alex Karp has warned that AI may become capable of predicting the future.
During [THIS] interview with Louis Robson, he explained that AI could predict peopleās thoughts and actions within a domestic context.
This is not a theoretical laboratory experiment. It is an evolution of algorithms currently deployed by the US Department of Defense and its allies.
On the battlefield, AI uses massive datasets regarding troop movements, communication bursts and satellite imagery to map out enemy moves before they make it.
Domestically, the same predictive algorithm can predict human behavior by analyzing consumer behavior, digital communication, location telemetry, and biometric responses.
THE SCIENCE BEHIND AI PREDICTING THE FUTURE
The concept of AI predicting human behavior is based on hyper-refined data correlation.
An AI model scans and analyzes usersā micro-behaviors.
These includes precise scrolling speeds, dynamic biometric data from wearables and subtle location shifts. Afterwards, this data is compiled to calculate choices and reactions a person is likely to exhibit.
Karp warns that this creates a domestic landscape where citizensā internal intent can be monitored without consent.
In this situation, their choices can become known in advance by governing entities or private enterprises . This can enable them to manipulate user reactions. Therefore, strict institutional regulation is essential to counter this.
CORPORATE RIVALRY
He further talked about the corporate rivalry between Silicon Valley labs such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
Eventually, Karp argues that the human mind might be outsourced to a centralized digital monopoly.
He insists that if predictive behavioral data is going to become a reality, it must remain decentralized and governed by local institutions.
Karp pushes for AI sovereignty.
He notes that consumption-based business models operate as parasites. He accuses them of trying to strip enterprises of their private data and intellectual property.
AI labs may ultimately need to be nationalized due to the unchecked risks and client liabilities they pose. Domestic production does not only pose the risk of government surveillance, it also risks cognitive pathways of the population being manipulated by AI corporates.
CHANGE IN KARPāS STANCE
Historically, Karp has maintained that the military did not use AI tools for mass domestic surveillance on US citizens.
He insisted that defense software was restricted to foreign adversaries in war contexts. By warning against the use of predictive AI in a domestic context, Karp is admitting that AI threats are seeping into society.
Moreover, while Karp made these statements, Palantir CTO Shyam Sankar publicly debunked extreme AI narratives. He said the extreme doomsday prophecies were mass psychosis. This proves that the tech industry is deeply divided.
