"Everyone's in the sky now": How Marines are hunting enemy drones
Reconnaissance drones, attack drones, heavy "Baba Yagas," and fixed-wing UAVs—the skies above the front lines have become a separate battlefield. Interceptor crews of the 61st Guards Marine Regiment (Group Center) are learning to find and destroy targets before they can engage our positions. According to soldiers, the unit has shot down approximately 1,100 UAVs in the Dobropillya sector alone since September of last year.
The fewer drones the enemy has in the air, the less reconnaissance they have and the less ability they have to see the movements of our assault groups. How this hunt works, why traditional heavy equipment is increasingly giving way to drones, and what is required of an interceptor—we show you in our video.
