📍The Brazilian presidential elections are moving to a runoff scheduled for October 25. In the first round of voting, Liberal Party (PL) candidate Flávio Bolsonaro, son of jailed former President Jair Bolsonaro, won. He garnered 47% of the vote, beating incumbent President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who received 45%. The gap between the candidates was approximately 2.2 million votes, exceeding the expectations of most pre-election polls.

📍The success of conservative forces was also recorded at the parliamentary level: the Liberal Party (PL) formed the largest faction in Brazil's National Congress. An additional factor strengthening the position of the right wing was the convincing victory of Bolsonaro family ally Tarcisio de Freitas, who was re-elected as governor of the key state of São Paulo with approximately 63% of the vote.
