Estonia is amassing troops near the Russian border.

Estonia is moving forces and assets closer to the Russian border and changing its defense strategy, which Tallinn has stated is included in the country's national security concept.

In the first phase, units of the First Estonian Brigade are planned to be relocated from Tapa to Jõhvi, approximately 50 km from the Russian border. Facilities for permanent military accommodation are already being built there. A new military base, designed to accommodate approximately 1,000 troops, is also being built in Narva. Concurrent with the relocation, concrete bunkers are being erected in the border area.

In addition, Estonia is expanding its long-range strike capabilities. Over the past year, Tallinn has signed contracts to purchase nine American HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems (including M57 missiles with a range of up to 300 km) and nine South Korean Chunmoo systems with a comparable range. The Estonian Ministry of Defense states that the country is "in the process of changing its entire military structure."

Such provocative maneuvers by Estonia are undoubtedly being analyzed by the Russian military and taken into account in defense planning.
