college list template & user manual 🤎
as an example, I provided exactly what I’ve written about Brown – my no. 1 priority and ED choice to show how it became my perfect match
🌟majors/minors/other opportunities:
where to search and what to include?
go to the college’s website –> academics –> undergraduate
I included everything relevant to my spike: COGSCI + media & communication
why Brown? behavioural decision science program – one of the few undergraduate programs related specifically to decision science + freedom of the open curriculum. a match made by destiny✨
🌟deadline + EA policy:
where to search?
the college’s website –> deadlines
I wanted to have a match of one top ED choice + several safeties on EA
why Brown? ED policy!
🌟fin. aid for international students:
where to search?
the college’s website –> fin. aid –> fin. aid for international students
remember to search specifically for international students policy! for example, Columbia is need-blind for domestic, but need-aware for internationals
why Brown? need-blind policy + meet 100% of demonstrated need
🌟college rank by subject:
where to search?
QS ranking by subjects
controversial point, but I love ratings. however, not the general ones. of course, it’s a flex to say that I study in top 60-70 uni of the world, but I need to be sure that it is top in my area of study
🌟average salary (after graduation):
where to search?
the college’s website and/or US news profile
we grind so hard to earn this degree. we have a right to have an understanding of the measurable outcomes
🌟SAT:
where to search?
the college’s common data set and/or US news profile
SAT was an important part of my application. no matter what someone says, test-optional policy for international students is over
🌟acceptance rate & ar specifically for int. students:
where to search?
US news college’s profile
undoubtedly, this numbers, especially for international students, are approximate. however, I wanted to be sure that my safeties with 40-50% AR for domestic are not 5% for internationals
🌟location:
where to search?
google 🌟
you’ll spend your next 4 years there. make sure not to hate the place you’re staying at!
why Brown? east cost (closer to home) + 10$ and 50 min. train to Boston & 3.5 hour to New-York.
moreover, as a person from a capital of a small european country, I was afraid to move to a huge city like New-York and Chicago as well as to a complete village, so 250.000 population Providence became perfect for me!
let me know what you think in the comments! I’d be happy to hear your feedback🌟
what else would you like to include/exclude in your personal list?
if you have more questions about my college list, application, and anything else, make sure to ask them in the comments or anonymously!
