part 1: IPM Cha Cha Cha

so, let’s slowly uncover some parts of my journey at Brown! .𖥔 ݁ ˖

i landed in Boston International Airport on august 28, and, from the very next day began the most memorable part of my summer - international orientation ☾

here, a close-knit community of 286 international students of class’30 was warmly welcomed at Brown! for reference, the whole class is 1700 students…

why was it cool?
𖥔 made my closest friends
𖥔 transitioned to Brown earlier than domestic students (wasn’t that scared to seem stupid)
𖥔 fought jet lag
𖥔 made lots of awesome memories. among them: imp talent show, mafia games in keeney (the biggest and the most social freshman dorm at Brown), and coolest branches and socials

What does your dorm look like? I really want to get into Brown too but I’m stressed of sharing my room with someone :))

in my anonymous question box, i received a question about my dorm. i live in a triple, and that’s… okay)) i never spend my time at my dorm, so you’ll be totally fine. some photos of my room are attached below!

thanks a lot for your warm support of my previous post! if you have any other questions, feel free to leave them in the comments or anonymously 🤍

long time no see .𖥔 ݁ ˖

hello, everyone! it’s been a WHILE, and i’m sorry for that. it’s been a month since i finally arrived at Brown, and i think that my adaptation has slowly came to its end, so i’m happy to finally share my experience with you!

as i said, lots of things have happened, so i wanted to ask you: what do you want to know about my transition to Brown?

feel free to share your questions in the comments and anonymously! .𖥔 ݁

really really happy to be back 🤍

DOMINIKA, I GOT IN
WITH A SCHOLARSHIP

this is my favourite type of messages 😌

talking about summer programs, me and my mentees have our first results!

yesterday, we received an acceptance letter from Cambridge Centre for International Research's Cambridge Future Scholar Programme for a very competitive program in behavioural economics + merit-based scholarship

➡️ acceptance rate is ~10%, and only top 40% of all admits receive merit aid!

congratulations, my love!
i’m sure, it’s just the beginning 🤍

3 things to do today to boost yourself❕️

happy summer everyone – the best season of the year is finally here!

however, you need to remember to spend it wisely, maintaining the work & life balance ✖️

here are several things i recommend you doing instead of tiktok:

🤩 creative writing

hear me out: you underestimate the importance of writing good essays for your application!

unfortunately, in CIS school curriculums, they don’t teach us to write creatively, so try do dedicate at least 1 hour to watch youtube videos, to read books, and, most importantly, to practice

you can start with reading my guide on the most foundational principles of creative writing *here*

🤩college list

start the formation of your college list

what to research?
• majors, minors, certificates – all the academic opportunities
• school life, clubs, and organisations
• general information about deadlines, test scores, and of course fin. aid

to see the template i used for my college list go *here*

why so?
1st: to build a long list of 30-35 colleges you would like to apply to and be free of long operational work
2nd: to understand better how your interests and goals are represented in the us colleges and to estimate your current chances realistically

❕️summer programs

participation, in many cases, costs nothing, but you’ll gain:
- real scientific exposure
- marvellous academic honor
- opportunity to network with the greatest leaders of the world
- experience of writing motivational essay and creating appreciations that work

however, choose wisely where to participate! if you want me to create a 2nd part dedicated specifically to summer programs, let’s collect 75 reactions

the road is mastered by the one who walks it 🤩🤩
