what (from ur point of view) did make ur application look exceptional?
what is perfection, and who defines it? 🤷♂️
well, in terms of US college applications, it is understandable – perfect test scores, all 5 international honors, and global level activities.
however, let’s be real, it’s unreachable. at least, when you started your preparation process 2 years ago.
between my beloved 11 rejects and Brown’30 ED, I had 7 month of constant preparation. here are some strategic steps that helped my application become 100x stronger:
🌟test scores
from 1420 to 1500, my SAT score experienced a major change))
test-optional policy is great, but strong academics has never prevented someone from getting in. in communities like mine, I haven’t had many international opportunities for my honors and activities, so I clearly understood that strong test results might boost my application significantly.
🌟honors & activities
I graduated from school => less contests and opportunities for honors => let’s boost my activities!
strategic improvements of what I had as well as creation of new ones made me strengthen my activity section significantly.
🌟essays
there were two major changes: language & writing skills improvements and simple maturing. this year, my brain generated more original and deep ideas for all my essays. actually, that gap can be described by a phrase from my gap year essay:
slowing down for a second can be the most powerful step forward (girl, u r so trueee)
be strategic about your applications. understanding your weak and strong sides will help you make powerful changes, no matter how close your deadline is. however, if you need some help, slide in my dm (@damimiese), and we’ll figure something out⌨️
