what has changed? I realized that all the optional spaces are required for us – international students.
moreover, clever use of all the free spaces could show admissions that you’re a pro, willing to tell your story for 150%.
here are some tips for common app:
✨future flans
put «Other», and write about your future plans in detail. here is what I’ve written:
Entrepreneur, leveraging psychology, media&AI to create innovative solutions to enhance human thinking.
why did it work? I showed that I know why I need college and have a clear long-term vision + it set a great tone for activity section to start.
✨additional information
250 word space – perfect to give more context for some of the previously mentioned activities and list additional ones.
what you can include here?
- additional facts, numbers, impact from your activities – preferably, first 4, as they need be your most developed projects)
- additional activities and honors – relevant to your application, but not included in the main lists. for example, in my Brown video I mentioned my dancing classes. however, this activity didn’t match the rest ones, so additional info became the best spot for it:)
✨resume
the greatest example of optional supplement that can tell so many additional things about you as an applicant.
what to include?
- courses & certifications (shows intellectual curiosity outside academics)
- additional activities you performed earlier in time (for example, I had ones from 2019-2020)
be aware of:
repetitions
unnecessary/irrelevant facts
untruth:)
RD is just around the corner, but there’s still time to make powerful last minute changes ❤️
if you’re interested in 1-to-1 consultations for your whole application (with insides from mine), essay edits, or common app check – slide in my dm (@damimiese)! I’m still in the beginning of this path, so pricing policy would be fair 😏
