Kurdistan Region PM Masrour Barzani warned the Financial Times about security risks as US-led Coalition forces withdraw from Iraq:

“The threat is real, we are vulnerable, we are being attacked.”

“Now, to be left alone without any appropriate defensive system, it’s shameful.”

Barzani said the Kurdistan Region is prevented from acquiring adequate defenses against missiles and drones, leaving it “vulnerable” and “weaker.”

He warned that if security deteriorates, the international community may eventually be forced to return to stabilize the region.
