Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, speaking at the Atlantic Council:

“We have very good relations with the KRG. We have good economic relations, security relations, and we have good relations with President Masoud Barzani and Nechirvan Barzani.”

Al-Sharaa said the KRG had provided input during discussions over the integration of the SDF into the Syrian state.

Al-Sharaa further confirmed that Damascus is working to give the remaining Turkish military presence in northwestern Syria a legal status, while saying Syria may soon no longer need any foreign military presence.

He also confirmed that Syria has been holding direct talks with Israel for around a year.
