Abu Obeida’s brother has stated that their al-Kahlout family is originally of Kurdish descent.
According to him, the family’s ancestors migrated to Asqalan, in the Gaza region, around 800 years ago.
Abu Obeida, a member of the al-Kahlout family, was the spokesperson for Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades.
