A really cute picture that didn't make it into my Back-to-School Quiz. What's the missing word? 😁

P.S.: One spot available for the quiz tomorrow (Sunday) at 4pm in Moscow!

Quiz question 🤣 I was just in a Zoom call in English and this is how Zoom notes transcribed the first thing I said in the meeting. What 5-word sentence did I say?

The Back-to-School Quiz is SOLD OUT… but apparently I’m very bad at saying no. 😅

The main room for September 13 is officially full, but I’m still getting messages from people who’d love to come, so I booked two extra rooms right next door!

This means I have a small batch of Introvert Tickets available. 💅 And they're just 1500 rubles each!

What’s the introvert version like?
– a cosy separate room with just 3–4 teams;
– your own screen with all the questions, videos and visual content;
– live audio from the main room;
– you’ll hear me throughout the game – you just won’t have to look at me for two hours 😇

You’re still fully part of the quiz:
– you compete for prizes 🎁;
– all the rounds, music and questions are streamed live to your room 📺;
– you can order food and drinks from the bar 🥐.

The lower price simply reflects the different setup: I’ll be hosting from the main room rather than being physically present in yours.

So if you wanted to come but missed the original tickets, this is your chance. ❤️

📅 September 13, 16:00–18:00
📍 Moscow, near Mendeleevskaya metro station

🇬🇧 The quiz is entirely in English and suitable for adults from B1+ level. You can come with your own team or join one on the spot.

Get your Introvert Ticket HERE. Or DM me if you have any questions. (And remember: I don’t have any assistants).

See you at the Back-to-School Quiz!

Kind reminder that you still have until the end of August 31 to get your tickets to the quiz on September 13 in Moscow at a discounted rate!

TICKETS

In the meanwhile, feel free to solve this riddle. Put your answer in the comment and hide it with a spoiler. And I'll post the discount code in the comments 🤗

Test the intelligence of the hive mind, have fun and win prizes!

Time and place of the quiz: September 13 (Sunday) at 16:00, m. Mendeleevskaya

Price: 1700 2000 rub per person (with discount code until Aug 31)

UPD: I fixed a typo in the riddle 😂 Perhaps the reason you aren't commenting is because it was unsolvable with that typo! 😁

As you are enjoying the final week of summer, I know your mind is partly in the future. And if you're in Moscow, I'd like to give you something pleasant to look forward to!

I'd like to invite you to my Back-to-School Quiz!

There will be 6 rounds loosely based on the core school subjects — but with a twist. Get ready to count your blessings in Maths, sing along to your favourite tunes in Music class, and learn about some incredible intersections between History and Literature.

All questions can be answered through your background knowledge and the magic of the hive mind of your team. You can join a team on the spot or bring a team of your own!

Date: September 13 (Sunday)
Time: 16:00 — 18:00
Place: Moscow, m. Mendeleevskaya

Price: 1700 2000 rub per person (if paid before September 1)

You can get your tickets HERE (don't forget to apply the NERDSUNITE code for an early bird discount). If you would like to sign up more than one person in one go, send me a direct message and I'll sort you out!

Hope to see you there!

Thank you to each and every one of you who attended my workshop on Working with people you don't like.

We don't always get to choose whom to work with. And even if we get off to a good start with a student or colleague, some of their behaviours may stress us out.

If the behaviour is disruptive (e.g. they are consistently late or frequently shoot down other students' ideas in a conversation), it may be worth talking to the person in private. But even then, they might not change. Maybe being super busy (and therefore late) or pushy (and therefore argumentative) is part of who they are at that moment in their life. What then?

Realistically, we do not have a surefire way of making someone change. They are their own person. But there is one thing that we do have control over — the way we respond.

The feelings and emotions that we experience are not just something that happens to us. They are something that we actively do with our body. When we see the dreaded person, we might clench our jaw and stop breathing for a few moments. The good news is that we can help ourselves undo the emotion by undoing the action.

So, when you think about that unpleasant person, notice what you do in your body — your eyes, your breathing, any movement, the tension in your shoulders, your chest, your belly, your hands.

And then try something called ABC centring:
⏺A — awareness (Look around and see where you are in the room, how far away the walls are, where the door is, etc.)
⏺B — balance (Shift your weight forwards and back, left and right, to check that you are not leaning too much in one direction.)
⏺C — core relaxation (Imagine a line going down the middle of your body, from the top of your head. Move your attention down that line, relaxing the forehead, the eyes, the tongue, the shoulders, the chest, the belly, and the genitals.)

See if this changes anything for you. Please let me know in the comments.

Personally, it helps me feel more spacious and responsive, rather than reactive.

This is something you can practise with your eyes open! Because eyes open is exactly how we go through life.

Do this a few times a day (you might set an alarm or do it each time you go get a drink or open your laptop) and this skill will become a very accessible tool in your toolkit! ❤️
