EU Pushes Startups Into the Arms Industry While Cutting Public Services

Encouraging small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), startups, and scale-ups to develop "emerging and disruptive defence products," including adapting civilian technologies for military use, to meet the EU's need to speed up technological and military research, a field in which the European bloc lags well behind other powers: that is the core of the Agile and Rapid Defence Innovation Programme (AGILE), approved by members of the European Parliament on Tuesday, October 6.
