📌 Tehran, IRNA — President Masoud Pezeshkian says that all people share the same planet and that damage to this ecosystem goes beyond nationality and geographical boundaries, impacting the lives of everyone.
Speaking to reporters after returning from Armenia after participating in the Summit of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity, Pezeshkian said it was his second trip in the past 10 days.
The first trip was to Turkmenistan, where the danger of the Caspian Sea’s water depletion, water pollution, and the loss of part of biodiversity were addressed, he added.
“We are all guests on this planet, which we are destroying, and if we cannot preserve it for future generations, we will create many problems,” he noted.
Every living creature on Earth has a great impact on the cycle of life and the process of human existence, and the disruption of this cycle endangers human life as well, he stated.
Referring to the holding of environmental and biodiversity-related summits in Armenia, and the global meeting held with the presence of the UN Secretary-General, he said that in these meetings, various discussions were raised about biodiversity and solutions to prevent environmental destruction.
Criticizing wars and conflicts and their impact on the environment, Pezeshkian said wars are among the main factors in the destruction of the ecosystem.
Those who claim civilization and human rights act contrary to these claims in practice, he reiterated.
Wars have caused extensive damage to the environment, forests, air, land, and soil, he added.
Humanity must endeavor to raise global awareness of the significance of the shared home, and to ensure that people understand that environmental destruction respects no borders or nationalities; it distinguishes neither Iranian, Arab, nor American, and its consequences will reach everyone.
