📌 Tehran, IRNA – Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has stressed that protecting consumer rights and improving product quality require joint responsibility from the government, manufacturers and citizens, calling for stronger standards to promote efficiency, public trust and sustainable development.
In a message marking World Standards Day and Standards Week, Pezeshkian said standards should be embedded in all aspects of life and serve as a basis for assessing the quality of decisions, performance and services.
Standards, he said, extend beyond technical production requirements and product quality to encompass social relations, public health and safety, service delivery, efficiency and the fair use of national resources.
In production and the economy, compliance with standards demonstrates respect for consumers' rights and manufacturers' commitment to quality, the president said. People are entitled to confidence in the safety and quality of the goods and services they receive, while producers need transparent, fair and reliable regulations.
Effective supervision, continuous assessment and widespread implementation of standards can improve Iranian products, strengthen their competitiveness and enhance the country's reputation in international markets, he added.
Pezeshkian also linked existing imbalances and inefficiencies to inadequate standards, unclear benchmarks and improper consumption and resource allocation. Addressing these problems requires changes in decision-making, more efficient consumption, reduced waste and higher productivity, he said.
He noted that effective standards could improve equipment and services, support better energy management and the development of clean energy, preserve national resources and protect the interests of future generations.
The president called on the National Standards Organization to draw on the country's scientific expertise, improve coordination among government bodies and strengthen oversight. He said clear, measurable plans should deliver tangible, lasting improvements.
Pezeshkian expressed hope that better quality and competitiveness would help Iranian products gain a stronger position in global markets.
