📌 New York, IRNA – Tehran has warned Bahrain and other regional states against allowing their territory or airspace to be used in attacks on Iran, stressing that it will respond if they allow such attacks again.
Ali Karimi Magham, Second Secretary of the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, made the remarks Monday before the UN Third Committee, responding to statements by Bahrain’s representative. He said Bahrain was speaking about human rights while ignoring the circumstances surrounding events.
Karimi Magham said Bahrain was not a victim, arguing that it had provided its territory, bases and airspace for an illegal US war against Iran. A country that had made its territory available for an unlawful war against its neighbor, he said, could not express surprise at the consequences.
The Iranian representative stressed that Iran had not initiated the attack but had been attacked, describing Tehran’s response as the exercise of its legitimate inherent right.
He warned that the Islamic Republic would respond if the territory of a country in the region were used to launch an attack against Iran again.
Addressing Bahrain’s representative, Karimi Magham said the region faced two choices: building security together or enduring insecurity. Bahrain had previously chosen the latter, he said, warning that repeating the choice should not produce expectations of the same outcome.
