🛜 Apple will use its own custom-designed Wi-Fi chip in all upcoming iPhone 17 models

📰 According according to Jeff Pu, an analyst who covers companies within Apple's supply chain, all iPhone 17 models will be equipped with a WiFi 7-enabled chip developed by Apple itself.

🔮 Previously, there was speculation that the company would leave only the 6 standard for its own WiFi modems, but now the predictions are changing.

ℹ️ Wi-Fi 7 allows for data transmission over the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands simultaneously with a supported router, resulting in faster Wi-Fi speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connectivity. Wi-Fi 7 can provide peak speeds of over 40 Gbps, a 4× increase over Wi-Fi 6E, if a device supports the maximum specifications.

👂 By the way, according to other rumors, Qualcomm and Broadcom corporations, which supply cellular and WiFi+Bluetooth modems for the iPhone, have already presented a plan for 2025 for the production of chips, which noted a decrease in the number of orders from Apple by 30 and 75%, respectively.

👂 iPhone 17e to launch next year in February

📰 Apple will very likely launch an iPhone 17e next year around the same February window, claims a new consumer report, coinciding with a claim by a proven leaker that references to the device have already been spotted in the Chinese supply chain.

🪙 Of course, this is assuming the iPhone 16e sells well. If it doesn't, the "e" could suffer the same fate as the iPhone "mini" series. By the way, a "Plus" model is expected to be absent in Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 lineup.

🇮🇩 iPhone 16 will return to Indonesia as soon as this week

📰 Bloomberg reports that the Indonesian Ministry of Industry and Apple have agreed on the terms of lifting the ban in the country on the iPhone 16 series, which was in effect from October 2024, the parties may sign the agreement as early as this week.

ℹ️ Indonesia imposed a ban on new smartphones from Apple because the company failed to meet the requirements that smartphones sold domestically must contain at least 35% locally manufactured parts and at least $115 million investment in local industry each year.

💰 Now, it seems that after much wrangling and discussions with the government, Apple plans to invest $1 billion in Indonesia after all, including:

🏭 Building a factory in Batam, to produce the AirTag;
🏭 Building a factory in Bandung, Jakarta, to produce other types of iPhone accessories and components;
🎓 A new Apple Academy program to train locals in research and development of their applications;
💸 Payment of annual dues of $115 million is maintained.

💬 The Ministry of Industry plans to hold a press conference as soon as possible to announce the issuance of a license allowing the iPhone 16 to be sold in Indonesia.

📰 Apple has begun sourcing suppliers for mass production of its first foldable iPhone

📱 Insider Digital Chat Station reported that Apple has decided on the format of its first foldable device. The company is preparing a foldable gadget, which has an external and internal screen.

📏 The external display of the device has a diagonal of 5.49“, while the internal display is 7.74”. Most likely, it will be a premium model of the new iPhone, but there is a possibility that we are expecting something like iPad Mini in a new form factor.

🔒 A new Face ID system with meta-lenses, which will combine the receiver and transmitter technology to reduce the size of the components on the screen, is also supposed.

📆 The gadget is still in the prototype stage, and its release won't take place until 2027 at the earliest.

📰 Apple announced more than $500 billion in investments in the U.S. over the next four years

🤝 The measure follows talks between Tim Cook and President Donald Trump, which revealed the Cupertinians' huge investment in the US economy.

🆙 This is the company's largest investment yet and is designed to take U.S. innovation and advanced high-skilled manufacturing to the next level. Apple will support a wide range of initiatives focused on artificial intelligence, silicon engineering and skills development for students and workers across the country.

📍 Teams and facilities will expand in Michigan, Texas, California, Arizona, Nevada, Iowa, Oregon, North Carolina and Washington.

💰 Plans include the start-up of a new plant in Texas, the second in the US. In addition, as part of this investment package, Apple and partners will open a new advanced manufacturing facility in Houston to produce servers supporting Apple Intelligence (Private Cloud Compute). The $500 billion total includes Apple working with thousands of suppliers in all 50 states, direct employment, Apple Intelligence infrastructure and data centers, corporate facilities, and Apple tv+ manufacturing in 20 states.

🏆 Apple remains one of the largest U.S. taxpayers, having paid more than $75 billion in taxes over the past five years, including $19 billion in 2024 alone.

We are bullish on the future of American innovation, and we’re proud to build on our long-standing U.S. investments with this $500 billion commitment to our country’s future. From doubling our Advanced Manufacturing Fund, to building advanced technology in Texas, we’re thrilled to expand our support for American manufacturing. And we’ll keep working with people and companies across this country to help write an extraordinary new chapter in the history of American innovation,

– said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.

🔎 Details about the iPhone 17 Pro prototype

📰 Insider Majin Bu shared the currently known information about the iPhone 17 Pro prototype, codenamed 253, which is currently undergoing the stage of engineering tests:

📸 A horizontal block with a camera module on the back of the device protrudes 2 mm above the body. The cameras themselves protrude another 1mm above that block. Both black block and body-colored variants are being tested.

📱 The frame of the prototype is made of matte aluminum. Earlier there were rumors that Apple may abandon titanium for the sake of ecology.

⏬️ The Camera Control button has been retained. Probably, it can get new functions.

🥷 The screen diagonal is 6 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro has a 6.3-inch display. This seems like an unlikely change. If the information is not a fake, it is likely that the solution is implemented only in the prototype stage.

🔋 The battery has jumped to 5200 mAh instead of 3582 mAh like in the iPhone 16 Pro. This is probably one of the most anticipated innovations. Hopefully, it will persist until release.

However, all or part of the listed details may not make it to the final product or simply turn out to be a fake. Majin Bu has a mixed reputation for leaks, so watch, criticize (as usual), and stay tuned for more Apple news.
