🇪🇺 Apple appears to stop equipping iPhones with physical SIM card slots within the EU

This could already be the case with the iPhone 17 series, which is due to be unveiled next week.

ℹ️ Apple is currently pursuing a dual strategy in the EU: a "real" SIM meets one (or more, whereby only one may be active at a time) digital eSIM.

📰 According to a report from MacRumors, Apple's eSIM training courses are now planned for numerous official retail partners – four days before the iPhone keynote. Apparently, dates are scheduled in all 27 EU countries.

😐 By the way, at a minimum, the iPhone 17 Air will lack a SIM card tray in most if not all countries due to its ultra-thin design, according to Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. However, there is a decent chance the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max will also be eSIM-only internationally. There might be a few exceptions still, though, such as China.

👨‍⚖️ Apple took offense to Xiaomi over the ads and now threatening with a lawsuit

📰 Xiaomi ran several ads in India that openly mocked competitor's overpriced gadgets.

🥴 The problem is that Xiaomi not only compares its own devices to Apple models in an ironic way, but also uses modified slogans of its competitor.

🇮🇳 It is important to note that the campaign was launched only in India, and local laws allow publishing such ads if the comparison is objective and not derogatory.

👨‍⚖️ Elon Musk sues Apple

📰 The owner of 𝕏 and xAI has officially filed a lawsuit in the federal District Court of Texas against Apple, as well as OpenAI, accusing them of conspiring to suppress competition in the field of AI.

😈 The story originates from a situation that unfolded recently in the App Store. According to Elon Musk, Apple deliberately underestimated the position of the Grok application in the app store rating, while promoting their competitors in the face of ChatGPT.

Unless the court enjoins Apple and OpenAI’s unlawful conduct, defendants will continue to thwart competition, and their competitors, like plaintiffs, will continue to suffer the anticompetitive consequences.
