⌚️ 1. The first headline is loud enough
On the one hand, the ads about smart Siri is removed from all resources, on the other hand, Apple is considering the possibility of turning the watch into a wearable AI device with cameras.
🔎 According to the source Apple is working on a version of its smartwatch (both standard and ultra models) that will be equipped with cameras that will facilitate the expansion of the company’s “visual intelligence” features that are currently only available on the latest model of iPhone.
With the standard Apple Watch, the camera would be embedded within the display, similar to an iPhone. It’s unclear if this would utilize under display-tech, or if this’ll necessitate a camera cutout.
With the Ultra, the company plans on embedding it on the side of the watch, next to the digital crown and side button. Apple is likely doing this because they have more space to work with. Gurman says that Ultra users would have an easier time pointing their wrist at things to scan.
🗺 2. Apple shuffles AI executive ranks in bid to turn around Siri
As it was predicted by @iPhone somebody has to answer where was the expected more smart Siri lost. Well, Apple is trying to find the answer among the company's team:
Apple Inc. has started this week with a rare shake-up of its executive ranks, aiming to get its AI efforts back on track after months of delays and stumbles. CEO Tim Cook is not happy with John Giannandrea to execute on product development, so he’s moving over another top executive to help: Vision Pro creator Mike Rockwell. In a new role, Rockwell will be in charge of the Siri virtual assistant. Rockwell will report to software chief Craig Federighi, removing Siri completely from Giannandrea’s command.
📱 3. Almost iPhone 16e's younger cousin
Apple’s iPhone 16e has made a grand entrance with its $600 offering of all the best parts of the iPhone 16 for a less price. This month, it’s Google’s turn with the Pixel 9a. For $500, you get a Google device with all the best parts of the Pixel 9 (plus all that Gemini stuff Google wants you to use).
