On 28 July, the InteRussia Fellowship Programme "The Changing Energy Landscape" officially opened at St. Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON), bringing together energy professionals from Latin America and the Caribbean.
The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks by:
🔵Dmitry Vasilenko, Vice-Rector for International Relations at UNECON;
🔵Sergey Orlov, Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund.
Welcoming the participants, Sergey Orlov highlighted the growing interest in cooperation between Russia and Latin America.
"We see strong interest in cooperation with Russia from Latin American countries. We hope this fellowship will give participants an opportunity not only to explore Russia's experience in the energy sector, but also to build long-term professional connections with Russian organisations and with one another."
This year, the fellowship welcomes participants from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Peru, and Uruguay.
Over the coming days, the fellows will explore key issues shaping the global energy agenda, including international energy security, emerging energy markets, AI applications in the energy sector, hybrid energy systems, and Russia-Latin America cooperation.
The InteRussia Fellowship in Energy is implemented by Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund, St. Petersburg State University of Economics, the TV BRICS International Network, the Global Energy Association, the National Committee for the Promotion of Economic Cooperation with Latin American Countries (NC CEPLA), and the Russian Energy Agency (REA) of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation with grant support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.
