On September 21, STEM fellows visited Astra Group — one of Russia's leading IT developers, best known for the Astra Linux operating system and other software solutions.
The company's ecosystem spans nearly every layer of the IT stack — from operating systems and virtualization to cybersecurity and enterprise tools. In recent years, Astra has shown strong growth, steadily expanding its product lineup and pursuing acquisitions, including AI development.
The fellows had a lecture on how Astra is structured, covering its product development process, internal operations, and company culture. Astra's team also shared insights from their own projects and answered questions about working in tech.
Visits like this give fellows a chance to see the industry up close — a real glimpse into what a day in the life of an engineer at a major tech company looks like 🔷
The InteRussia fellowship program for foreign specialists in STEM is implemented by the Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund and the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology. The program is implemented as part of Rossotrudnichestvo’s flagship New Generation initiative with grant support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.
