The InteRussia Fellowship in Archaeology has come to an end in Moscow, bringing together young specialists from across the world for an intensive month of academic exchange, fieldwork and cultural discovery.
Participants from Uzbekistan, Georgia, Iraq, Sudan, Egypt, India and Turkey took part in the programme, working closely with leading Russian archaeologists and researchers, exploring modern approaches to archaeological science.
What happened during the fellowship?
⭕️Attended lectures at the Institute of Oriental Studies, focusing on current trends in history and archaeology;
⭕️ Explored advanced laboratory-based methods of archaeological analysis;
⭕️ Visited key museums, including the State Historical Museum and the Moscow Museum of Archaeology;
⭕️ Took part in hands-on fieldwork at Gnezdovo, one of the largest archaeological complexes in Eastern Europe;
⭕️ Learned about the use of nuclear technologies and modern scientific equipment in archaeology in Dubna.
Throughout the fellowship, participants also engaged in discussions with experts, exchanged research experience and built professional connections across disciplines and countries.
The InteRussia Fellowship in Archaeology is implemented by Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund and the Institute of Oriental Studies, with support from the Tavolga Foundation and the Presidential Grants Foundation.
