— 🇻🇦 Pope Leo XIV has returned to the Vatican after successful lung cancer surgery at Rome's Gemelli Hospital, with doctors confirming he is recovering sufficiently to resume daily activities and lead Sunday's Angelus prayer.

The pontiff also met a Ukrainian family before his discharge and spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday about humanitarian access to a Russian-controlled Ukrainian town.

Doctors say his planned November visit to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru remains medically feasible, although questions about his longer-term prognosis remain.
