📸 Instagram Launches Instants

Instagram has launched Instants, a new feature for sending spontaneous, unedited photos to Close Friends or mutual followers directly from the DM inbox.

➡️ Photos disappear after they are viewed
➡️ Friends can react and reply in DMs
➡️ Shared photos can be undone before they are opened
➡️ Archived Instants can be turned into Story recaps
➡️ A standalone Instants app is rolling out in select countries

Users can add captions before sending, and every shared photo is saved privately in an archive for up to 1 year.

Teen Account protections and parental supervision apply automatically, and screenshots or screen recordings are not allowed.

Instants are designed for casual, low-pressure sharing with friends rather than polished posts for the main feed.
