📉 Instagram is killing reach for repost pages

Instagram rolled out a major algorithm update that directly targets aggregator accounts and repost content.

From now on, photos and carousels from pages that mostly repost content will no longer be recommended in Explore and other discovery surfaces.

➡️ Accounts are now evaluated monthly based on how much original content they post
➡️ If most posts are reposts, reach to new audiences will be limited
➡️ Original creators will get priority in recommendations
➡️ Simple reposts without meaningful edits will no longer perform

Instagram is basically extending what they already did with Reels. Push original content, suppress copy paste formats.

You can still use third party content, but only if you add real value. Edits, context, or transformation.

Instagram wants creators, not curators.

For anyone running repost pages, this is a direct hit. For original creators, this is one of the biggest tailwinds in a while.
