Veronica: Veronica: Questo negli stati uniti è un periodo di grandi feste. Qualcuno la chiama proprio "holiday season". Ad aprire le porte a questa lunga parentesi "festaiola" è la notte delle streghe, Halloween o Samain per altri. Com'è ovvio che sia però, i preparativi cominciano tempo prima. Si parla di holiday season perché di fatto è così. Messi via i cappelli da strega&co, ecco apparire immediatamente tacchini ecc in ogni dove. Ieri qui era Thanksgiving, il giorno del ringraziamento. Noi abbiamo fatto subito nostra quest'usanza e così ieri mattina anch'io armeggiavo in cucina per il tacchino ripieno. Nei giorni scorsi cercavo ricette, scoprendo che non esiste una ed indiscussa, ma più che altro "una di famiglia" se così vogliamo dire. Ad ogni modo la più gettonata ho notato essere col ripieno di pane raffermo e castagne. Ed oggi? Beh.. Oggi gli americani sono già oltre, tutti concentrati sul Black Friday! Ieri nel tardo pomeriggio si vedevano già diversi negozi con le transenne fuori e molti, in occasione di questa pazza corsa agli acquisti, hanno aperto a mezzanotte. Dopo questo "venerdì nero"?? Ovviamente Natale! Anche se in parte qua i preparativi e l'atmosfera hanno già preso il via. Per la città si vedono già mercatini natalizi, alberi decorati, luci e tanto altro ancora deve arrivare. Intanto noi, come gli americani, questo weekend saremo impegnati a fare il nostro di albero, perché la tradizione locale vuole che venga fatto nel weekend di Thanksgiving e questa cosa ci piace un sacco! Insomma, freddo a parte, siamo arrivati in un bel periodo
Se c'é una cosa che ho capito delle lingue, vivendo all'estero, é che oltre a essere meravigliose, sono piú vive di quanto spesso pensiamo e credere di padroneggiare una lingua, solo per averla studiata parecchi anni, ma senza aver mai vissuto fuori puó rivelarsi un errore.
A scuola s'imparano i classici saluti, good morning, hello etc, ma difficilmente s'impara che, almeno qui in 🇺🇸 USA, é abitudine, aggiungere al saluto un "How are you?". Questo anche fra persone che non si conoscono affatto, fa parte del saluto stesso, non é necessariamente un vero come stai. E fin'ora, ogni volta, non so perché, ma sentirlo da perfetti sconosciuti, m'imbarazza sempre, mi ci devo abituare.
