📍Today's focus — the Petronas Twin Towers
The main symbol of Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia's signature. These two steel needles soaring 452 meters (88 floors!) into the sky are a true architectural masterpiece.
But they're not just skyscrapers. Let's break down why they're so impressive:
🟪Building battle. The towers were built simultaneously by... two different companies! The Japanese built one, the Koreans built the other. They turned it into an unofficial competition — the Koreans finished faster and won.
🟩Record-breaking foundation. The concrete for each tower was poured continuously for 54 hours to make the base as strong as possible. And the foundation itself goes more than 100 meters into the ground!
🟪Design with meaning. The architect drew inspiration from Islamic culture: the towers' floor plan forms an eight-pointed star, a symbol of unity and harmony. And they were built using only Malaysian materials.
🟩The chameleon bridge. Between the towers, at a height of 170 meters (floors 41–42), hangs the Skybridge. And it's not rigidly fixed — it can move, compensating for the buildings' sway! It's also an evacuation route in case of emergencies.
🟪World record. From 1998 to 2004, they were the tallest buildings in the world. And they still hold the record for the tallest twin towers!
By the way, the site where the towers now stand was home to horse racing tracks in the early '90s.

📍Сегодня в фокусе — Башни Петронас
Главный символ Куала-Лумпура и визитная карточка Малайзии. Эти две стальные иглы, уходящие в небо на 452 метра (88 этажей!), — настоящий архитектурный шедевр.
Это не просто небоскрёбы. Давайте разберёмся, почему они такие крутые:
🟪Строительный баттл. Башни возводили одновременно... две разные компании! Японцы строили одну, корейцы — вторую. Устроили неофициальное соревнование — корейцы построили быстрее и выиграли.
🟩Фундамент-рекордсмен. Бетон под каждую башню заливали непрерывно 54 часа, чтобы основание было максимально прочным. А сам фундамент уходит в землю больше чем на 100 метров!
🟪Дизайн со смыслом. Архитектор вдохновлялся исламской культурой: в плане башен — восьмиконечная звезда, символ единства и гармонии. При этом строили их только из малайзийских материалов.
🟩Мост-хамелеон. Между башнями на высоте 170 метров (41–42 этажи) висит мост Skybridge. И он не закреплён жёстко — может двигаться, компенсируя колебания зданий! А ещё это эвакуационный маршрут на случай ЧС.
🟪Мировой рекорд. С 1998 по 2004 год это были самые высокие здания в мире. А статус самых высоких башен-близнецов они удерживают до сих пор!
Кстати, на месте, где сейчас стоят башни, ещё в начале 90-х проводили конные скачки.
