Кто знает, что будет потом?

Есть в церкви у нас пустосвяты,
Пустышки средь наших вояк;
Воротятся скоро солдаты
В казармы – вот будет пустяк!

Я слышал: «В театре рутина,
Все пьесы пусты!» Неужель?
Вдруг этому делу причина,
Что публика – из пустомель?

А впрочем, пустое все это,
Мораль здесь предельно проста:
Пустяк в голове у поэта,
И песенка эта пуста.

A trifling song you shall hear,
Begun with a trifle and ended:
All trifling people draw near,

Were it not for trifles, a few,

What makes men trifle in dressing?
