I want to expand on this.
Just based on AIās current capabilities, I think itās already an extremely powerful tool; yet most people will never use it to its full potential for anything really importantāmost people are going to use AI as a therapist (dangerous) or, at best, for cooking tips (useful, but not important) rather than using it to build apps that give them an unfair advantage over others. Sure, the people saying that AI will take over the world and destroy us all are exaggerating its current capabilities, likely to aid the entire AI market, so itās fair to say that AI is technically overhyped. And itās also true that the current generation of AIs are just language models that donāt have a genuine ability to think the way we doābut it appears to come awfully close, close enough that it doesnāt really matter. If you understand your role as the director doing the high level thinking and decision making, then AI doesnāt need to āthinkā to be an extremely useful and intelligent slave, one that gives you an insane amount of leverage over the rest of humanity.
AI itself wonāt take over the world, but the people that utilize AI will. Hopefully thatās us!
