📖 🇺🇸 ⚪️ The original proposed Great Seal, designed by Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, and John Adams, recognized the English, Scottish, Germans, Dutch, French, and Irish as the founding stock of America.

Thomas Jefferson wanted to make the reverse a tribute to the Anglo-Saxons by depicting Hengist and Horsa.

📝 Thomas Jefferson: "Hengist and Horsa, the Saxon chiefs from whom we claim the honor of being descended, and whose political principles and form of government we have assumed."
