Founded in 1051 (before moscovia even existed), the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra is one of Eastern Europe’s oldest monastic complexes and is home to the 11th-century Dormition Cathedral, which influenced regional church architecture for centuries.

It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990.
