Since the days of the fighting, so much has happened: what we saw in those misty distances has now become reality. These are the days when we had to endure insults, be torn from our homes, and be killed; but our attention never wavered on everyone who does not want this state, who fights against it! Though times have become harder for us, our duty remains the same. The reconstruction of our fatherland demands immense rigor and self-restraint. In times of need, great sacrifices are required of us. And just as the Fรผhrer first impressed loyalty upon us, and just as we have upheld it in the past, so too will we recognize loyalty as the supreme law in the future. If, during the times of persecution, we had only followed our exile, who told us in German, "We are losing our positions, we are going to prison, why should we let ourselves be killed?", we would hardly have achieved victory; but in our hearts, we swore the loyalty for which we ask, we swore it once and will keep it as long as we live. It shall be as it has been in the past: from loyalty grows our obedience, our discipline. But discipline is hardest to maintain where its fulfillment seems almost impossible. And if an order is given to you that is difficult for you, if you believe it will break you, then you must obey without hesitation, without doubt, and without reservation. If there is one of you young men who believes he cannot keep the promise of loyalty, let him say so openly and leave! For whoever brings him the Black Death and the belt buckle that you have earned in hard battles, or to whom you young men wish to earn it, then you must be loyal and obedient, for then you will distinguish our understanding and our law. The enemy once did not ask whether someone belonged to the SS or the PN; he was to be persecuted, to be destroyed. And so it shall remain with us: if one of us is attacked, then the attacker has made all of us his enemy. And just as we were comrades in the fighting, conquering village and town and simply the Reich, so we all want to remain comrades in the future, regardless of the uniform we wear, whether brown or gray; we all want to stick together as in the fighting, for we are all soldiers of one worldview and one will; thus we will overcome all bad times, whatever may come. We know that the Jews, Freemasons, and big capitalists are the enemies of the German people, and we also know their methods: first, to incite Germans against Germans, and if that fails, to destroy the German people from without and drive them to the battlefield. The methods remain the same today; and because we know this, we also recognize our duty, as long as we live, to dedicate all our strength to the Fatherland and to stand together.
