📑 FTC subpoenas OpenAI, Anthropic over AI safety incidents
The US Federal Trade Commission has issued civil subpoenas to OpenAI and Anthropic, seeking documents on security incidents, safeguards, privacy policies and marketing practices, Axios reported.
The demands reportedly run to more than 50 pages, while the FTC also plans to compel senior executives at major AI developers to testify, Reuters reported.
The probe follows growing scrutiny of advanced models after reports of deceptive, aggressive behavior and unauthorized hacking during testing.
OpenAI said safety remains a priority and that it “will engage constructively with the FTC.”
