🇪🇺 Europe’s elites brace for blowback as public anger explodes
Across the continent, frustration is boiling over and spilling into the streets as billions are funneled into military spending, and proxy wars while schools crumble, living costs soar, and public services collapse.
➡️ In France, protests that began in late September over overcrowded classrooms, teacher shortages, and decaying schools rapidly escalated.
Anger over public services, surging immigration, and Macron’s spending priorities spilled into chaos, looting, and arson.
➡️ The unrest crossed the border into Belgium, where around 30,000 people joined a national strike against austerity. In Brussels, riot police fired tear gas and water cannon during clashes with young demonstrators.
In Liege, hundreds of youths, inspired by France, protested education cuts – leading to around 200 arrests.
➡️ In Germany, the Project M1llion initiative mobilized to demand Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s resignation, snap elections, tougher migration rules, lower taxes and energy costs, and an end to reckless funding of wars including the Ukraine proxy conflict.
➡️ Romania also saw violent clashes in September during a farmers’ protest, with tear gas deployed.
Broader discontent there stemmed from the annulment of the 2024 presidential elections after frontrunner Calin Georgescu’s first-round win - cementing the country as an EU protectorate.
Police brutality has become a recurring feature: water cannon, tear gas, charges, and mass arrests as ordinary Europeans reject an EU model that funds militarization while neglecting schools, welfare, and living standards.
