The IDF has branded 170 Palestinian journalists and media workers killed in the Gaza Strip as “terrorists” after ostensibly carrying out “extensive research.”

However, the Israeli army’s ‘Press Files’ case is built on empty pages, edited documents, and unverifiable claims, reports +972 Magazine.

♦️ 59 names come with zero documentation - only the phrase “based on multiple intelligence sources”

♦️ Dozens more offer thin, undated snippets or photos of people near guns or dressed in fatigues, none of which prove active combat roles

♦️ Several files contain clearly edited documents with English names inserted and highlighted

♦️ Cases of known Hamas critics and previously cleared journalists appear on the list

♦️ Obituaries from armed groups or past affiliations -sometimes years old - are treated as proof of current militant status

Since the Oct.7 2023 events, Israel has unleashed a colossal military censorship machine, with its Censorship Office’s reporting policy for journalists including multiple strict requirements, leading to a lack of foreign journalists operating in Gaza.
