🇮🇷 Iran appears to be expanding maritime control beyond Hormuz
Vessels suspected of violating Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz could now be targeted across the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman as well, according to reports.
👉 A tanker was hit by multiple projectiles about 94 km off Madinat ash Shamal in Qatar - roughly 500 km west of the Strait of Hormuz, in the Persian Gulf, per UKMTO.
The vessel was Antigua and Barbuda flagged tanker Acers, according to maritime security firm Vanguard Tech.
Iran has imposed restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, saying vessels must use designated routes and obtain authorization.
Iranian security sources have accused the US of falsely portraying the strait as fully open to push oil prices lower, while warning that ships violating the restrictions could be targeted.
