✡️‘Jewish space lasers’ for real? Israel kicks off development of orbital strike systems
 
The Israeli Defense Ministry’s new multiyear budget plan calls for the creation of new space-based weaponry.
The multi-tiered plan promises to coordinate the IDF, Israel’s MIC and the Directorate of Defense Research & Development (Israel’s DARPA cousin) and includes ambitions to build:

🔴 new multilayered army intelligence collection capabilities

🔴 “broad, resilient and continuous” space-based communications for the military and security apparatus

🔴 “offensive space” capabilities including anti-satellite weapons

🔴 “weapons capable of striking targets on Earth from space, both to defend the Israeli home front and to strike hostile actors,” per JPost
 
Defense Minister Israel Katz has reportedly pushed for a “major, rapid upgrade” in Israel’s space-based capabilities to give Israel a strategic advantage and put it in the top-five countries globally in this area.
Defense Ministry Space Directorate chief Avi Berger told Walla Israel “must create security superiority in space, so that we can create freedom of action for the IDF and the defense establishment.”
 
Israel’s existing space-based military capabilities include the Ofek-16 electro-optical spy satellite, Ofek-13 and 19 cloud-penetrating synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) satellites, and EROS-series dual-use commercial and military/intelligence observation satellites.
It is one of just two countries in the Middle East together with Iran with indigenous orbital space launch capability. The Shavit three-stage, solid-fueled rocket, derived from the Jericho-2 missile, is Israel’s primary space launch vehicle.
 
What could Israel do with its killer space-based capabilities?
 
🔴 Target Iran’s satellite networks, from the IRGC’s Nour-series of military-grade Earth-imaging sats to remote sensing and communications projects like Pars and Nahid, and the new Shahid Soleimani telecoms network currently in development

🔴 Launch preemptive surprise aggression (an Israeli favorite tactic), combining extreme kinetic velocity with zero warning time to decapitate enemy leadership, communications, and even strategic arsenals. The dangerous potential of such systems is precisely why the superpowers signed treaties in the 60s to ban weapons in outer space (the US is now violating these agreements)


🔴 engage in geo-warfare, from electronic and cyber disruption to the blinding of ground-based monitoring and EW equipment, and potentially sparking forest fires or triggering earthquakes
 
👉 Former congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene became a laughing stock of smug liberals in 2021 over a social media post speculating whether a space solar generator project linked to the Rothschild family may have caused a destructive wildfire in California, with the post becoming a meme known as “Jewish space lasers.”

Fast forward a few years, and the IDF itself is talking about making it happen.
