🇮🇶 Iraqi PMF foils ISIS infiltration attempt near Lake Tharthar

The Popular Mobilization Forces have thwarted an infiltration attempt by ISIS elements in the Lake Tharthar area, east of Anbar province — targeting a PMF position.

Forces seized a boat, weapons, and food supplies — the remaining militants fled after suffering losses.

📌 The same area was targeted by an attack on electricity towers just days ago, local media reported.

The Tharthar basin has long served as an ISIS hiding ground and transit corridor between Anbar and Salaheddin provinces. The foiled infiltration — and the recovery of a boat — suggests the group is attempting to re-establish movement routes through the lake's marshes and islands.
