Yesterday I made a very nice fungi walk for a birthday party. We were exploring the Pyrenees, talked about ecosystems, different ways of fungi communication and many many more
But the thing that always comes to my mind when I organise a trip is… do you usually expect to find an edible mushroom? How to balance between genuine curiosity and foraging courage?
Personally, I don’t have any specific aims when it comes to walking in the forest. I love going with a flow: if there are some boletus or chanterelles waiting for me, I’d look for more. But even in the inedible world there are exciting species waiting to be found.
Share your experience with mushroom foraging in the comments! Do you usually feel sad about not finding anything or enjoy any kind of natural activity?
Hey hey, today we are talking about MUSHROOMS and their whimsical powers.
There is a certain fear of uncertainty, when it comes to fungi kingdom. They were considered eerie, devil creations, that appeared out of nowhere and disappeared to nowhere. Folklore and language became the main source of our cultural ancestry heritage. Shakespeare wrote about Witch butter, Santa may be a fly-agaric shaman and a Scottish rhyme warns that "he wha tills the fairies' green / Nae luck again shall hae”.
Don’t hesitate to share other tales or superstitions on fungi that you find interesting 👯♀️
