Robert Pattinson for The New York Times Magazine
In the interview, Robert reflects on his career, recent projects, and his upcoming film with director Bong Joon Ho.
He also shared a funny story from 2011, when the fourth Twilight movie was in production. So bored, Pattinson made up a story about witnessing a clown die in a toy-car explosion as a child. “There wasn’t a single hesitation in my voice,” he says, with a mix of pride and unease. “I thought, ‘What the hell? Are you possessed?’ The truth is, I was just bored.” Back then, he says, “the only thing anyone ever asked me was how to become famous. You slip into a fugue-like state.”
The editor goes on to note that despite rarely appearing in public or using social media, Pattinson has become an A-list movie star. His partnership with Dior Homme, which began in 2013, and his films with Christopher Nolan—earning a combined $1 billion—are proof of that.
