🇦🇪 The UAE is strengthening the role of Arabic: what it means for media, PR and marketing

As reported by Khaleej Times, the UAE is preparing a new Arabic Language Law — and this is an important signal not only for public institutions, but also for businesses, media, PR and marketing teams.

According to the draft law, Arabic should be present in public-facing communications, including visual, audio and written advertising, promotional campaigns, events, conferences and official meetings when the main language is not Arabic. The draft also touches on internal company policies, customer service and the need for Arabic-speaking staff in certain sectors.

📣 For the communications industry, the message is clear: in the UAE, localization is no longer just a “nice-to-have” addition to the English version. It is becoming part of a brand’s reputation, compliance and cultural relevance.

What does this mean for PR and marketing? 💵

❤️ Companies operating in the UAE will need to pay closer attention to the language of press releases, advertising campaigns, websites, social media, public statements and events. Arabic-language communication should not be treated as a mechanical translation. It should be a fully developed part of the strategy — accurate, culturally sensitive and relevant to the local audience.

💚For the media sector, this also reflects a broader shift. Arabic is expected to play a more visible role in the public agenda, which means brands will need a deeper understanding of the local media landscape, editorial expectations and Arabic-language content standards.

🤍 For international companies, this is another reminder: entering the UAE market is not only about business opportunities. It is also about understanding and respecting the country’s cultural context.

And this is a good moment to remind our audience that Fresh Russian Communications now also works in the UAE. We help companies adapt their communications for the MENA market, build PR strategies, work with the local agenda and speak to audiences in a way that is clear, relevant and culturally accurate.

🥇 In this new environment, the strongest brands will not be the ones that simply translate their messages. They will be the ones that know how to sound natural, appropriate and meaningful in the local context.
