This situation is an excellent example of how technophiles and the Techno-industrial system as a whole value technical progress and advancement over humanity. They believe that humans are obstacles in the path of progress, and expenses as if we are soulless machinery. They only value technical efficiency and advancement, rather than human values like freedom and dignity. They can claim that they support human values all they want, but when they have to pick, they will always choose progress, no matter the cost.
