But there is still a paradox:
Despite this, some of the most powerful startup stories emerge in exactly these conditions.
One of them is the story of Whitney Wolfe Herd, the founder of Bumble.
After leaving Tinder and going through a difficult legal conflict, she decided to build a dating platform where WOMEN make the first move. Many investors initially thought the idea was strange and claimed it “went against social norms”.
Still, the app launched in 2014.
And in 2021, Bumble went public, making Whitney the youngest self-made female billionaire to take a company to an IPO.
