๐ Excel Basics #2 โ Rows, Columns & Cells
Before using formulas or creating reports, you need to understand the building blocks of Excel.
๐ Rows
โข Rows run horizontally (left to right).
โข They are identified by numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4...
โข Each row represents a single record.
๐ Columns
โข Columns run vertically (top to bottom).
โข They are identified by letters: A, B, C, D...
โข Each column usually stores one type of information.
๐ Cells
โข A cell is the intersection of a row and a column.
โข Every cell has a unique address.
Examples:
โข A1 โ Column A, Row 1
โข C5 โ Column C, Row 5
โข F12 โ Column F, Row 12
๐ก Example Table:
Row 1: Name | Age | City
Row 2: Rahul | 25 | Pune
Row 3: Priya | 28 | Mumbai
โข "Rahul" is in cell A2
โข "25" is in cell B2
โข "Mumbai" is in cell C3
โ
Quick Tip:
Always refer to cells by their addresses when writing formulas.
Examples:
โข =A2+B2
โข =SUM(C2:C10)
Understanding cell references is the foundation of Excel.
