๐ Excel Basics #1 โ Workbook vs Worksheet
If you're new to Microsoft Excel, the first thing you need to understand is the difference between a Workbook and a Worksheet.
๐ Workbook
โข A Workbook is the entire Excel file.
โข It has the ".xlsx" extension.
โข One workbook can contain multiple worksheets.
๐ Worksheet
โข A Worksheet is a single spreadsheet (tab) inside a workbook.
โข This is where you enter, organize, and analyze data.
โข By default, a workbook starts with one worksheet, but you can add as many as you need.
๐ก Example:
Imagine you're creating a sales report.
๐ Workbook: "Sales_Report_2026.xlsx"
Inside it:
โข Sheet1 โ January Sales
โข Sheet2 โ February Sales
โข Sheet3 โ March Sales
Here, the Excel file is the Workbook, and each tab is a Worksheet.
โ
Quick Tip:
Use separate worksheets for different months, departments, or projects to keep your data organized.
