🟥 FSB runs a network of secret prisons for "disloyal" Ukrainians in Crimea
A network of prisons in occupied Crimea is used to torture allegedly "disloyal" civilians – investigation by The Kyiv Independent
🟥 Thousands tortured in FSB prisons
Several thousands Ukrainians abducted from the occupied territories are imprisoned in a network of detention centers run by FSB in Crimea.
Prisoners are held in a conditions that may amount to crimes against humanity.
Former detainees described repeated resuscitations after torture-induced clinical death, electric shocks, nail extraction, and psychological abuse.
Medical care is virtually nonexistent in these facilities.
🟥 Electric shocks and resuscitations
People with active pro-Ukrainian civic positions are frequently targeted. They are often charged with treason, espionage, or terrorism.
FSB officers reportedly operate without warrants, have direct access to detention facilities, and conduct interrogations and torture sessions in rooms without video surveillance.
At Detention Center No. 2 in Aqmescit (Simferopol), detainees have reported severe beatings, electric shocks, and repeated resuscitations after torture.
🟥 Expanding the system of repression
The opening of Detention Center No. 8 in Crimea, which reports directly to the FSB headquarters in Moscow, suggests that the repressive system is expanding.
It points to a centralized Russian policy for holding Ukrainian prisoners with little chance of a fair trial or communication with the outside world.
Occupied Crimea has become a testing ground for methods of control and intimidation that are later applied in other occupied parts of Ukraine.
