🟨 Russia classifies statistics on political prisoners and security forces' crimes
Data on high treason, extremism, "discrediting" the army and other politically motivated articles is no longer published.
🟨 What is removed from public reports
The entire section on "crimes against the foundations of the constitutional order and state security" has disappeared from public reports.
Authorities no longer disclose numbers of convictions for high treason, disclosure of state secrets, sabotage, organizing an extremist community, or "discrediting" the army.
Statistics on administrative cases for "discrediting" the army, "inciting hatred", calls for separatism, and violations by "foreign agents" have also been removed.
🟨 Crimes by security forces also hidden
Russia has stopped publishing data on crimes committed by military personnel, judges, prosecutors, investigators, police officers and prison staff.
This move further reduces transparency around political repression and abuse by the security apparatus.
Independent media, including Verstka and The Moscow Times, first noted the disappearance of the figures.
The classification makes it harder to track the real scale of political imprisonment and official criminality inside Russia.
