Итак, как и в русском языке, в английском есть омонимы — слова одинаковые по звучанию и написанию,и по разные по значению.
Давайте разберем парочку 🤔

🔴Match
If you suspect a gas leak do not strike a match or use electricity. (спички)
Her fingerprints match those found at the scene of the crime (совпадать)

🔴Mean
What does this sentence mean? (значить)
He needed to find a mean of the data (среднее значение)

🔴Right
I’m sure my answer is right. (верный, правильный)
Take a right turn at the intersection. (правый)

🔴Ring
What a beautiful wedding ring! (кольцо)
I heard the doorbell ring. (звонок)

🔴Spring
I’m sorry to spring it on you, but I’ve been offered another job. (выплеснуть, неожиданно сообщить)
My favourite season is spring. (весна)

🔴Bat
I am scared of bats. (летучая мышь)
Why would you go to bat for me with Lou that day?(заступиться)

🔴Bear
We observed a bear in its natural habitat during our camping trip. (медведь)
Sometimes, it’s challenging to bear the weight of responsibilities. (выносить, нести)

🔴Bow
Robin Hood skillfully aimed his bow at the target. (лук)
The actor took a graceful bow after his outstanding performance. (поклон)

🔴Tire
After hitting the rock, the car needed a new tire. (шина)
I always tire easily after a strenuous workout. (утомляться)

🔴Tear
A tear rolled down her cheek as she watched the Notebook. (слеза)
Be careful not to tear the paper when opening the package. (порвать)

🔴Scale
Mom uses a scale to measure the ingredients for the recipe. (шкала, весы)
The snake’s beautiful colours were visible in the sunlight, highlighting each scale. (чешуя)
