Teacher's Day started in the USSR in 1965. Back then, people celebrated it on the 1____(ONE) Sunday of October, so the exact date changed every year. Later, an important international document about teachers' rights and working conditions 2____(SIGN) on October 5, 1966. This event became the foundation for the modern holiday. 

In 1994, UNESCO made October 5th the official World Teachers' Day. That same year, Russia changed its rules and started 3____ (CELEBRATE) it on this fixed date instead of the first Sunday. Since then, Russian teachers 4_____ (HONOUR) on October 5th every year, no matter the day of the week. 

Soon, in 2026, we 5____ (CELEBRATE) the 60th anniversary of that important 1966 document. Today, what began as a local holiday with a changing date 6____(BE) now a global event to thank educators.
